SPT Magazine is pleased share this recording of a webinar with Deb Dana & Liam O Mahony ( PCPSI ) discussing A Polyvagal Approach to Covid 19 . Liam is an Accredited Psychotherapist and Addiction Counsellor and Co-Founder of PCPSI* on a Polyvagal Approach to COVID-19.

Deb Dana has written for SPT Magazine in the past. She works as a clinician, consultant, lecturer, and Coordinator of the Traumatic Stress Research Consortium in the Kinsey Institute, with Dr Porges. She is focused on using the lens of Polyvagal Theory to understand and resolve the impact of trauma and create ways of working that honour the role of the autonomic nervous system as we move through states of protection and connection in an ongoing quest for safety. The autonomic nervous system is a common denominator in the human family. We all share the same biobehavioral platform.

Dr. Porges published an article in Clinical Neuropsychology last month in which he said, “the pandemic impacts on our biological imperative to connect.”

As ever, Deb translates this insight into working with clients to help them understand the physiology behind their behavior and feelings. They talk about the need for connection during this time.

Many thanks to Integrated Listening Systems for making this possible.
